” The snowflakes fell on her long, fair hair,
which hung in curls on her shoulders,
but she regarded them not.”

– David Lang after H.C. Andersén

” The sky writes itself full of stars,
the mouth shouts its sounds at them”

– Peter Laugesen

A newly commissioned work by Icelandic-German Steingrimur Rohloff plus contemporary music in dialogue with Baroque classics. David Lang tells the little match girl using forms borrowed from Bach's St Matthew Passion, while Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Ad Genua was originally composed in response to Buxtehude's Membra Jesu nostri.

German conductor Ralf Sochaczewsky (b. 1972) conducts the Helsinki Chamber Choir for the first time. More about Ralf here.
